The name ‘Uluwatu’ comes from Ulu, meaning ‘lands end’ and Watu, meaning ‘rock’. It is home to Pura Luhur Uluwatu Temple, notable as one of six key temples believed to be the spiritual pillars of Bali’s Hindu culture. Uluwatu’s dramatic limestone cliff-top, located on the south-western tip known as the ‘Bukit Peninsula’, is renowned as one of the island’s best sunset vantage points.
